Ugh so if you didn't know, a nurse who treated the man with Ebola in Dallas, Texas, decided it was a great idea to hop on a plane and come to my city, and after her trip she was diagnosed with Ebola.  Now everybody is losing their mind.

Schools were shut down, events were cancelled, and stores are lowering their prices to accommodate people stockpiling for this "second AIDS".  I'm more annoyed than worried at this point.  The CDC, Ebola experts, and infectious diseases experts alike are all saying it's unlikely there will be an actual outbreak here and in the rest of America, but my parents refuse to believe it.  My mom came home from the store today with cans of spam, canned tuna, powdered milk, and other items that can be stored for a long time in case stores shut down.  Apparently, hospitals are being flooded with people who ate too much and threw up, or had a random bought of diarrhea, wasting time, money, resources, and just spreading more fear because they think they have Ebola.  Everybody is terrified to the point where they think it's airborne and are smothering themselves in germ killer or are refusing to leave their homes.  The first five minutes of every period at school today was nothing but students and teachers going absolutely crazy.  My dad is worried that the government will declare martial law, so he's stocking up on armor piercing rounds (and yes, that's legal).

To be honest, I'm mad.  It's being blown way out of proportion, and I've been shunned for voicing so, both at school and at home.  But because everyone is screaming and crying, I'm starting to think about it, and it's worrying me.  It's causing a mass panic that I don't want to be a part of.  My friend texted me and told me my workplace may she shut down tomorrow, and I could be out of a job for a time.  The whole city may shut down because people are afraid of something that hasn't happened yet.  The precautions are extreme at best.  I'm angry and frustrated and I don't know if it's because I want to pretend nothing's wrong or if there really isn't anything wrong.  It's frightening and I feel like everyone is forcing me to fear.  If anything, the fear is more harmful than the disease itself.
